10°C
From 17th October to 4th December we were hosting at AgitLAB the artist Hugo Baranger. During his stay at AgitLAB, Hugo has developed the project "10°C", a sound composition in real time about eels.
Hugo has explored Águeda and its surrounding area in search of eels. The goal was to collect information, stories and tales about the presence of eels (or not) in this region of Portugal. Hugo has also searched for the data about changes in climate, light pollution, in temperature and water quality in the region. He has collected scientific data, images, graphs and drawings from scientific literature on eels. These documents came from international and local scientific literature (University of Aveiro, Estaçao Litoral da Aguda). The real-time musical composition was based on the eel's life cycle, its various stages and physical transformations. By visiting the places where eels live around Águeda (Aveiro, Pateira, Aguda, Murtosa) he collected photos of the evolution of these places. All the images and data collected were used to generate rhythms, sound waves, effects and notes, forming the very sound texture of the installation.
The presentation took place on Friday 29th November, at Café-Concerto in the Parque Municipal de Alta Vila.
The residency project was supported by Culture Moves Europe, AgitLAB, Câmara Municipal de Águeda, and organised by Improvise and Organize.
